The Namibia Senior Secondary Certifi cate Agricultural Science Ordinary Level Learner’s Book (Grades 10 & 11) has been developed to assist those studying Agricultural Science to achieve the requirements of the course. • Acquire a broad knowledge of the importance of agriculture to the family, the nation and of course to the world. • Know and understand the major uses of various livestock kept and crops grown in Namibia. • Understand how the environment infl uences farming activities in Namibia. • Have a common understanding of the techniques important in conserving our natural resources, such as water and soil, for sustainable farming. • Acquire knowledge and skills on both animals and crop production. • Address basic skills and knowledge of farm mechanisation. • Equip students with basic agricultural economic principles on which farming can flourish as a business. • Prepare students with overall agricultural knowledge and skills for both theoretical and practical work, as a departure point for students who want to pursue a career in agriculture at tertiary institutions or for self-employment.
